Alterações agudas induzidas por uma prova de triatlo longo em diferentes biomarcadores enzimáticos e da função imune
To assess acute hematological changes induced by a long triathlon. We evaluated the behavior of various enzymatic and of immune function biomarkers in Portuguese triathlon male athletes. Methods: 10 senior male athletes (31.5 ± 1.2 years, 69.3 ± 1.9 kg, 177.7 ± 1.4 cm, 22.0 ± 0.8 and BMI 10.1 ± 2.2% BF) were divided into groups elite and non-elite. Samples were taken from peripheral venous blood before and immediately after the events. We used descriptive statistics, nonparametric tests of Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney and Spearman correlation coefficient. Results: There was increased activity of CK and AST (p <0.05) in both groups. The increased activity of the enzyme GGT (p <0.05) occurred only in the elite group. An increase in leukocyte count, mainly expressed as an increase in neutrophil count (p <0.05) was also found in both groups. After the race, there was a decrease in the CD4/CD8 ratio and increased concentrations of T lymphocytes CD3+ CD8+, CD4+ T reg and CD4+ CD69+ for athletes from non-elite groups. Conclusion: The results suggest that the intensity and duration of triathlon affect the responses of several biomarkers analyzed according to the level of training of athletes.
